While No Limit Poker may be the hottest current casino option on the online, blackjack remains an extremely popular option as well. Although blackjack has been one of the most popular games in live casinos for some 100 years, its popularity soared even higher in 1962 thanks to Dr. Edward O. Thorp, a mathematics professor with a Ph.D. from UCLA. In that year Thorp’s book, Beat the Dealer, provided the mechanism for devoted followers to take the advantage away from the house by religiously tracking count of the cards remaining in play.
Another flurry of excitement in the game occurred in 2008 thanks to the popular movie “21″, based on the best selling novel “Bringing Down the House”. This story followed the adventures of a team of MIT students who used the card counting methods pioneered by Dr. Thorp to win millions from Las Vegas casinos. Blackjack players everywhere were emboldened and excited with this story of success at the Vegas tables.
Unfortunately, when it comes to the game of online blackjack many of the strategies that are so valuable in a live casino, including card counting, prove to be of little use when gambling on the online. But the most critical underlying premise of card counting is every bit as valuable even though the opportunities to use it may be fewer. It’s really very simple: to be a winner at blackjack you must wager larger amounts on those hands that you are most likely to win. The rules of the game virtually guarantee that the player will lose more hands than he wins, so the only way to profit is to win the big money hands and lose the small money hands.

Have some time on your hands and looking for a new hobby? If so, maybe you would like to consider taking up a new sport. There are many different types of sports you may wish to consider. Some are more aggressive than others. What you choose, depends on your personal preferences, personality, and of course, your physical attributes.
The only problem with sports is that not everyone is physically inclined. Some are just less athletic than others. If so, perhaps watching from the sidelines would be a better idea. You may then wish to consider picking up sports betting.
Picking up sports betting doesn’t mean that you make your hobby into a nasty gambling habit. You have to remember that this is a hobby, and your primary objective, is to seek entertainment, so that you can past time leisurely. Sports betting is a good way to do so because when you start betting, the games become much more exciting. After all, you have a stake (no matter how small) in the games now.

There has been some research done on this but it has been found (so i’ve been told) to be a much more difficult mental task, and i’ve certainly not come accross an information in print.
This is why the KO is recommended if you don’t want the extra mental strain that comes with the Hi/Lo. You’re not really expected to move on to anything more advanced..
It wouldn’t have any real effect on Ace Sequncing, but as a large part of AS is shuffle tracking, you’d be putting a lot of work in and missing a lot of the avalible advantage.
In honesty, all the advanced techniques are mentally taxing and difficult to learn. It’s a big step between counting and them.
Additional side counts aren’t really the answer. They will provide you with a few tenths of a % extra advantage (at least an A side count will), but nothing dramatic.
Aces have 2 different effects on how you play. For the purposes of betting they act like a high card (i.e. you bet more when there are more A’s due to the higher blackjack probability) and like a small card for playing purposes (where you’ll regularly consider them to have a value of 1). The premis behind keeping a side count of Aces is that you keep your count without Aces for playing purposes and adjust your count by your sidecount for betting purposes. I’ve not looked into this at all, but i don’t see that working with an unbalanced count.
As i said before, unbalanced counts with designed with the idea in mind of keeping it simple. If you really want to gain a greater advantage, you pretty much need to move to a balanced count. I’d suggest the Hi/Lo. It’s the standard if you want extra ‘bolt on’ packages.
I think switching to Hi-Lo is a fine idea. My point was that if you want to retain working knowledge of an unbalanced count to use in situations where you want to exert less brain power, then I think learning TKO is better option for someone who already knows KO.
Switching back and forth between KO and Hi-Lo is probably not a great idea, since you’ll screw up counting/not counting the 7.
I agree that if all they were looking to do was use an improved counting system TKO is the better route – let’s be honest, they’ve already done most of the work and it saves re-learning point values, but that’s not what they are looking to do.
Now i understand that the current playing conditions don’t allow for anything more than counting, but the improvement between the KO and TKO or even Hi/Lo is small. My view is that although i may not be able to use a specific technique today, who knows where i’ll be tomorrow and what game conditions i’ll face, so i learn what i feel will benifit me the most.

Many people are understandably quite excited about their first casino experience, but before you make a trip to that first casino, you need to be aware of several things. A simple lack of knowledge might not sound like that big of a deal, but it can result in a strain on the beginner’s finances. If you are just starting out in gambling, here are some tips for you.
If you are a brand new beginner in gambling, take the time to read up on the game you want to play is absolutely essential. The more you know about a specific game, the type of bets that are good and the bets that you should stay away from, the better your chances at winning are. The ways to learn about this subject include going to a bookstore, reading about your game online, or playing the actual game in simulation.
All beginners should also take heed of the concept of bankroll management as they enter the world of gambling. Bankroll management is possibly the most important tool you will have. This is a type of money management that allows you to place limits on how much money you spend on wagers while you play and how much you agree to win and lose before quitting the game. If you are looking forward to a great time, make sure you keep the above tips in mind when wagering in the casino.

One of the easiest ways to play blackjack and be a consistent winner is to play like the dealer plays.
You may find more people will complain at the tables if you do so, but why would you care? You will win, more consistently, over a period of time if you always play like the dealer. Try it at home, online, or live in the brick and mortar casinos on a “slow day,” but make sure you try it because it works.
It is the simplest way to play with nothing to count, absolutely no tens or fives or anything else to remember. If you stop and think about it, here is why this “system” will be the only method you will ever need:
How many times does a dealer show a two and make a strong hand?
How many times does a dealer show a three, flip a 10, and make a strong hand?
How many times have you split 8-8 against a dealer’s face and had two losing hands instead of one?
How many times have you split AA against a dealer’s face and hand two losing hands instead of one?

Before we get started, counting cards isn’t about knowing what exact card is next (like the 9 of clubs), but about knowing what type of cards are left in the deck. It’s not like the movie Rainman. And it’s not going to help you unless you play at real casinos, not online ones. That said, let’s get going.
It’s pretty well known that Blackjack is a game that gives players a real advantage to win money. To win over the long run, you need to develop an optimal strategy. Counting cards will help you, if done right. Here’s the basic premise. Small cards help the dealer, big cards help you. When we count cards, we want to know if the deck contains more small cards or more big cards (or about even).

Tip 1: Always stand on a number value of 17 or more. Why? Any number over 4 will result in a bust – a deck of 52 cards has thirty-six cards with a face value over four.
Tip 2: Always hit on a number value of eleven or less. Since no card (except the Ace) has a value over ten, you can’t bust when you hit on an eleven.
Tip 3: Always assume that the dealer has a ten. If you find yourself with a number between eleven and seventeen assume that the dealer’s hidden card is a ten and then compare the assumed value of his hand to yours. If the dealer is showing a ten, face card, or an Ace, then play more aggressively ? go ahead and hit on a 16!
Tip 4: Be smart about double-downs. Double downs give you the chance to increase your winnings. But you can also lose twice as much. With only one hit allowed, it’s got to be a good one. This would be a good time to use your analytical skills in guessing the dealer’s hand. Even if you’ve got tens or elevens, if he’s showing a ten or a face card, he’s got a good chance at achieving a Blackjack.

Casinos have been in existence since the 1700′s, during the early years of the United States. In small, scattered towns, casinos were established to give those weary travelers and townsfolk a form of recreation and a way to earn some money from what they were willing to wager.
Throughout the eyars since then, casinos became more organized. They got bigger. They started serving better food. They developed a more efficient dealer system. And the money that was laid down on hte table, and consequently, the money lost by players, grew into eye-popping amounts.
Hence, many States banned gambling from their territories. Nevada, for instance, received so many complaints of broken families, ruined careers, unpaid loans, and the like as a result of the many gambling establishments in their area, that in 1910, they had to put a stoppage to the gambling industry that had sustained their desert county.
