WSOP Archives

Television was one of the great technological advancements of the first half of the 20th Century, while the Internet followed suit in the second half of the 20th Century. Can you imagine the reaping the benefits of both these innovations? The gambling industry harvested the fruits borne from both these technological marvels, and the online poker game is among the greatest of the beneficiaries.

Television originally gave impetus to the game of Poker when the World Series of Poker was first televised from Bunion’s Casino and Hotel back in 1971. The WSOP, as it has come to be known, gained world wide fame as commentators Brent Musberger and Jimmy “the Greek” Snyder brought credibility to the game.

About the time when online casinos commenced operations on the Internet about a dozen years ago, The World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour began to appear on cable TV nightly. Before long, there were Poker Tournaments on television every evening garnering great ratings. With this exposure, the online poker game also grew in stature, and to play poker online became the popular thing to do with your recreational time.

How you can make money with a poker bot

Online Poker is a billion dollar business. The thrill of sitting at home and playing poker has become an everyday event for millions of people all over the world. The World Poker Tour and similar tournaments have made people rich playing poker and they opened the door for online poker sites to start their own version of poker tournaments. Beginners, as well as seasoned players are spending money and a lot of time to win jackpots worth millions.

Poker playing is a combination of skill, focus and intuition, blended with an initial stake and a desire to win. Age, race, education and economic status are not as important as taking the first step and learning how to play the game the right way. Thanks to relatively new poker technology any player can become a seasoned winning veteran quickly by purchasing software called a poker robot, which is better known as a poker bot. The poker bot hooks up to any online poker site and is programmed to bet, raise, call, bluff or fold at the appropriate time during a game. The player can adjust the program to suit playing styles and the style of other players. Everything a player needs has been programmed into the bot, all the player needs to do is pick the online site and start winning.

Winning is not guaranteed by poker bot companies, although some poker bot makers strongly advertise their winning capabilities. Poker bots are legal, but there are some poker sites that don’t allow players to use them. If a poker bot is detected on a site that does not allow their use, the site will confiscate all winnings, as well as any money deposited in the account and will ban the player from the site There are new poker sites popping up daily and many of them condone the use of bots and even pay companies a commission to sell them to players. Some poker sites use poker bots to keep the tables in play during slow times or to fill a table when there are just a couple of real players playing.

A little bit about Poker

While the exact origins of the game of Poker are unclear, it is thought to have evolved over centuries from various games of bluffing or domino cards. Some believe it was first invented before 969 A.D. by the Chinese, as the Emperor Mu-tsung is reported to have played with his wife on New Years Eve of that year. Egyptians played cards in the 12th and 13th centuries, while the Persians played a game known as As Nas in the 16th century. This game consisted of 25 cards with 5 different suits with rounds of betting and hierarchies of card status, with the contemporary three-of-a-kind being exhibited at this stage. It is thought that As Nas was taught to French settlers in New Orleans by Persian sailors.

In hold ‘em, the same as with all variants of poker, individuals compete for an amount of money that is put up by the players themselves. Why The Poker Game is So Popular?

There are four main factors motivating the recent rise in popularity of online Poker. First and foremost, Poker has recently made the evolutionary jump from being viewed as a game to being viewed as a sport in the United States. This mainstream acceptance is due to increased media coverage of high-stakes poker tournaments such as the 2003 World Series of Poker and various weekly tournaments on the World poker  Tour. While ESPN and The Travel Channel have provided the primary coverage of such events, other television stations have been quick to duplicate these efforts. For example, the BRAVO network began airing weekly celebrity poker tournaments near the end of 2003. Most recently, Fox Sports Net began airing episodes of its “Late Night poker” program.

Although there are a wide variety of ways that Poker can be played, the tournament format covered by all of these entities is Texas No Limit Hold’em. This particular version of Poker is more confrontational and explosive than traditionally accepted formats such as 5-card draw or 7-card stud. In high stakes games, Hold’em is simply the most exciting format of poker, especially when an audience is watching.

The third and fourth reasons behind the meteoric rise in poker’s popularity have much to do with the 2003 World Series of Poker. As the name indicates, this particular poker championship is the most sought after by poker players around the world. The tournament itself has a rich history, not to mention a rich payout. In 2003, the person who ended up winning the WSP was a 27-year-old accountant named Chris Moneymaker, and his rise to the pinnacle of the poker world was nothing short of a Cinderella story.

LAS VEGAS, NV–(Marketwire – February 10, 2010) – Day 2 of Harrah’s Tunica $5,000 no-limit hold’em championship event has drawn to a close, and Team Victory Pro Paul Wasicka has cinched the chip lead with only nine players remaining. The 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event runner-up and 2007 NBC National Heads-Up champion will head into the final table with nearly a quarter of the total chips in play.

Ninety-six players opened on Day 1, creating a nearly half-million dollar prize pool. Thirty-five players started on Tuesday’s Day 2, with Wasicka near the top of the leader board. At the end of the day, the tournament had reached the final table, with nine players vying for the $139,422 first place prize money and championship ring. Since 2004, Wasicka has reached eight final tables, and boasts more than $7.6 million in earnings.

Not coincidentally, Wasicka recently completed a series of individual coaching sessions with fellow Team Victory member Sam “The Mind Guru” Chauhan. Chauhan is credited with teaching poker players how to read subconscious responses, breaking through barriers that prevent potential pros from achieving their full potential at the tables.
